About Us

We invite you to visit us and become a member of our fast growing and active chapter. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month with a variety of professional development topics offered. Locations vary throughout the DFW area allowing our supplier members to showcase their properties and planner members to view different sites in a relaxed social atmosphere. Check the calendar of events for the latest information regarding educational topics and venues offered this year.

Organization Profile

SGMP is a non profit professional organization of persons involved in planning local, state or federal government meetings, either on a full or part-time basis, and those individuals who supply services to government planners. Our objectives are to improve the quality and promote the cost effectiveness of government meetings by improving the knowledge and expertise of individuals in the planning and management of government meetings through education, training, and industry relationships.

Chapter Mission and Goals

The North Texas Chapter will:

  • Pair established, active members with new and potential members to help acclimate them to all the benefits of SGMP membership.
  • Motivate and encourage members and non-members to become involved in chapter and national activities by presenting outstanding educational programs.
  • Create meaningful and relevant articles in our bi-monthly newsletter to keep members informed of chapter activities and meeting planning issues.
  • Increase participation and visibility in community service activities.
  • Increase involvement and participation in the nominations and elections process by presenting an organized and timely election and by advertising the benefits of board service.
  • Acknowledge and award as many members as possible for the contributions to the growth and success of the chapter.
  • Offer full or partial scholarships to each qualified application to attend the national conference by evaluation of our silent auction program and other fundraisers.

Please join us for our monthly luncheon educational programs. Meetings are normally held on the second Thursday of the month at various locations. See our Calendar for details regarding this year's luncheon meetings.
